About the Role

As a Director of Product Innovation at Passport, you will drive some of our most ambitious product initiatives. You will organize and inspire cross-functional teams to bring those initiatives to life. You’ll partner closely with a variety of stakeholders across engineering, sales, product, and service delivery to ensure customer and client feedback, market intelligence, and institutional knowledge are analyzed and infused into innovation planning. Serving as an influencer, a leader, and an individual contributor, you will be instrumental in helping Passport grow meaningful sources of new revenue through your efforts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading, inspiring, and mentoring a cross-functional team to build, deliver, operationalize, and continuously infuse new ideas into our product portfolio
  • Incorporating client and customer feedback, along with outside market data analysis to craft and prioritize strategic initiatives in support of business objectives
  • Navigating internal and external barriers to continue driving forward, serving as point person for project deliverables
  • Managing multiple initiatives at once, and delivering under tight timelines
  • Forecasting key business metrics and developing offers for new services
  • Creating and validating business cases, complete with financial models for new product concepts
  • Prioritizing features for development and implementation based on sound financial analysis, while working in conjunction with product engineering on resource allocation
  • Documenting fundamental requirements for new initiatives to the level that they can be successfully delivered by supporting teams
  • Evangelizing your innovation portfolio across the organization and industry, including as needed to support Sales and Marketing efforts of the company
  • Communicating effectively with all areas of the business involved with your innovation portfolio, including senior leadership team
  • Highlighting key insights on product-market dynamics for your initiatives
  • Keeping stakeholders focused on the strategic objectives of each initiative, proactively identifying challenges, and figuring out how to measure our collective impact at achieving the company’s innovation goals
  • Participating in advancing and protecting the intellectual property of the company through the patent process
  • Actively producing “proof of concepts” and other tools that can be used to demonstrate the viability of initiatives under consideration or development
  • Contributing to a culture of excellence, learning, and best-practice sharing across the organization
  • Creating and providing regular reporting against key performance indicators (e.g. metrics for customer satisfaction, operating efficiency, and product quality)
  • Producing outstanding output and improving the routines and processes within the team to consistently deliver top performance


Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of professional experience, including significant experience managing products and leading cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational and communication (written, verbal, and listening) skills
  • Strong technical background, experience in software development is a plus
  • Solid understanding of mobile applications, device technologies, and the capabilities within various ecosystems
  • Experience with intellectual property protection, prosecution, or other patent matters is a plus
  • Understanding of API and insight-based business model dynamics
  • Understanding of applications in data science and statistical methods, including the ability to work in R, Python, or similar
  • Familiarity with data architecture, database systems, and proficiency with SQL
  • Superior resource, planning, and time management skills

  • Keen attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA or technical graduate degree is a plus
  • SaaS company experience is a plus

About You

You know how to take complex concepts, build a strategy, and work across teams to execute on that strategy. You are not afraid of changes along the way - you have a chameleon-like ability to adapt to your surroundings and still figure out how to drive the strategy forward. You obsess over the details. You blend technical ability with business acumen. While you are not necessarily a software engineer, you may have tinkered and are familiar with development methodologies. You are effective at connecting long-term vision to near-term objectives. Simply put, you have it all together - people enjoy working with you, your team respects you, your clients are regularly impressed by you, and you can effectively manage multiple constituents.

Above all else, you are also an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, and you understand how to effectively convey ideas to various stakeholders across the organization.

You will have the opportunity to wear several hats, and you should be comfortable learning new things and taking on new responsibilities. You’ll spearhead strategic initiatives. You won’t hesitate to roll up your sleeves and do the dirty work to turn your concepts into reality.
